Overview

The UCLA Solid Organ Transplant Symposium is an in-person & virtual education conference coordinated through UCLA Health Department of Transplant Services, the UCLA Center for Continuing Professional Development and the UCLA Transplant Multi-Disciplinary teams. The goal of this program is to provide a forum for UCLA Transplant multidisciplinary team experts to share updates to current practices and information on recent innovations that enhance transplant and patient outcomes.

In-Person & Live Virtual Conference Fees:

  • (Optional) Complimentary Transplant Networking Event - In-Person Only*

Refunds

Cancellations must be received via email to [email protected] by Friday, May 16, 2025 and will be subject to a $25 processing fee. No refunds will be granted after that date. David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA reserves the right to cancel or postpone this course if necessary; in the event of cancellation, course fees will be fully refunded. We are not responsible for other costs, such as non-refundable airline tickets or hotel penalties.

Course Recording

All registrants (live or virtual) will be provided the opportunity to review recorded sessions up to 3 weeks following the conference.
The recorded sessions are not approved for Continuing Education (CE) credit.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Identify areas of inequity in solid organ transplantation.
  2. Discuss factors that contribute to metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis in liver transplant recipients.
  3. Define alcohol hepatitis and identify the evaluation and management strategies that may improve patient outcomes as well as resources available.
  4. Recognize developmental barriers that may impact the transition from adolescent to adult transplant services.
  5. Identify criteria for bladder transplant candidacy and anticipated benefits over current treatment therapies.
  6. Identify the significance and clinical application of nephro-genetics in kidney transplantation.
  7. Appreciate general innovations in perfusion technology and the impact on organ procurement and patient survival.
  8. Identify risks / benefits / side effects of GLP-1 agonists for treatment of obesity.
  9. Identify surgical procurement technology now available for heart and lung transplant.
  10. Identify mechanical circulatory support options for the pediatric pre-heart transplant patient population.

Accreditation

The David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA designates this live activity for a maximum of 7.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

From the 405 freeway, exit Wilshire Blvd., East toward Westwood. Turn left on Westwood Blvd., travel past Charles E. Young Dr. South and turn left on “Structure 8 driveway”. Visitor parking is available in Lot 8 at a rate of $16 for the day. Please use the pay-by-plate stations to purchase your parking permit.
